mosaic stools

the idea behind the mosaic stools came about during the urban construct(ion) project on the very last day of the first period, we had sorted all the wooden boards and beams from the pallets we took apart, from small to large

i cut three beams to the same length and started screwing shorter boards and beams to them, one by one of different lengths as long as they were shorter than the three beams that would serve as legs

the result was a rough, sturdy stool that looked like a mosaic of wood along the top

throughout the year i collected wood from the streets, from previous projects, leftovers from other students, ... whenever i had the chance to take it with me, so i started making some more stools, stay tuned

the blue stool is the original one i made in the hague, the commissioner had smeared the stool with ugly orange stain without my permission so i decided to sand it and paint it blue
